Designer Needs

Now that you've decided to have a site designed, what do you have to do?

1.  Research the net.  Take a look at other sites to see what you like and don't like.  Look around and get some ideas of what is out there.  Google.com is an excellent search engine.  For authors, take a look at some of the collections of author websites available on Yahoo under Arts & Literature, Authors.

2.  For authors, get your biography written (or cribbed from a book jacket).  For small businesses, write a short, comprehensible description of your products and your company.

3.  If you have images, photos, or drawings, let the designer know what you have.  Wallace Webs is not a graphic design firm.  We design web sites.  We are able to design backgrounds, navigation bars/buttons, line dividers, and adapt and manipulate images either from the web or that are scanned in.  Simple graphics are well within our ability, but more complicated ones are not.  If desired, we can put you in touch with some excellent graphic designers who can design graphics for you.  Take a look at our portfolio of sites.

4.  Sit down with a piece of paper and write down the things that would be important for you to have on the site.

5.  Realize that a properly designed site can be modified, expanded, contracted, or changed to meet your needs.  Nothing is ever written in stone!  If you realize you need a new page down the road, don't worry.  We can do it.
