What does it cost to have a site designed? Contact us and we will
be glad to discuss with you about what size and type of site you'd like
designed. We offer two
packages, a Basic Web Site and a Customized Web Site.
Basic Web site: The basic web site design package
includes design of up to 10 pages, registration with the major search engines,
placement of meta tags (the elements many search engines look for), design and
creation of backdrops, line dividers, navigation structure and buttons or tools,
scanning and optimizing of photos or book covers, placement of text. NOTE:
this does not mean use of a "stock" background design. The background,
color scheme, and navigation tools will be individually chosen or created for
each site. Additional pages within the same design scheme can be added at
reasonable cost.
Customized Web site: Includes all of the elements of the Basic Web
site package and plus the design and creation of additional graphics and images,
simple animations, and other elements as required by the customer.
What costs are there in addition
to site design?
There are two continuing costs associated with running a website: domain
registration and web hosting.
Domain registration: There are a number of companies that
offer domain registration at reasonable rates. The "domain" is
your web address. For this site, the domain name is "www.wallacewebs.com".
The name is registered with a central entity which keeps track of all
registered names and stops anyone else from using it. Even if you
haven't gotten your website up and running, we suggest that you register your
domain name to prevent someone else from grabbing it before you do.
Domain names should be simple and easy to remember. Anything too long
and it will be tougher for people to find you. We can help you find
domain registration with reputable companies. An example of low costs
can be seen at www.godaddy.com which offers
domain registration starting at around $8.95/year.
Web hosting: Web hosts are the companies which provide a physical place
for your website information to live. They provide the place and create
access for the internet users to visit your site. There are a number of
web host providers out there with very reasonable rates starting around
$3.15 to $7.95/month and up. (Such as www.westhost.com
or www.godaddy.com ) We can help you find a web host which suits your
needs.
How do I maintain
or update the site?
Maintenance: Web site maintenance consists of updating information
as needed by the client. We design sites with flexibility in mind so
text, pages, and images can be added to, edited, or replaced with ease.
We charge an hourly maintenance fee which is billable in 15 minute
increments. Text additions or changes can be submitted via email.
Additional photos, book covers, or images can also be dealt with via email or
regular mail.
